JOB TITLE: Application Engineer
REPORTS TO: Senior Application Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY: The position will work directly with the Application Engineering team, who serve as the primary contact between our Italian headquarters, customers, and vendors with respect to engineering and design matters involving SPAL products. In this position, you will act as a technical liaison to the sales team and perform various engineering and technical support duties on multiple projects both new and existing. This position is customer facing and will require interactions through email, phone calls and on-site visits to the customer’s location(s) along with sales force; participate in tradeshows related to the applications. Expected travel to include on-site customer interaction and industry trade shows, up to 20% of your time.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Providing direct technical support to existing and potential customers.
• Collect information aiding in the design and development or redesign of products to fulfill the needs of customers.
• Work closely with customers to identify best intent for usage of SPAL products in their applications.
• Updating and maintaining engineering related files.
• Develop training programs and supporting literature for the sales, customer service, quality, and technical teams on products, their use, application and functionality.
• Help identify & implement SPAL USA process improvement strategies.
• Participate in rapid response and problem solving to address customer claimed product issues.
• Help administer and facilitate PPAP requests, including dimensional analysis for SPAL products.
• Support SPAL USA customer visits when/where engineering support is required.
• Validate customer specifications to SPAL product specs & designs.
• Researching and reporting information on the status of the industry.
• Maintain positive trusted relationships with customers.
• Converting technical leads into sales opportunities.
• Aid in administering technical changes to products.


REQUIREMENTS:
• Interest in automobile/vehicle design 

• Outgoing and natural communicator 
• Ability to foster and establish customer relationships and trust 
• Completed or Planning Graduation with a degree in Engineering 
• Minimum Cumulative 3.0/4.0 GPA 
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills 
• Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills 
• Experience with lab equipment, such as oscilloscope and various design software (AutoCAD, ProE, SolidWorks, etc)

HELPFUL EXPERIENCE:
• Vehicle thermal systems hands on or design experience 
 
 

• Vehicle networking debugging or implementation   
• Familiarity with Graphical Programing in test environments and/or Visual Basic programming   
• Able to speak Italian
