SPAL's contribution to the automotive sector is not restricted to only fans and blowers. We also develop and produce electrical systems and components for OEM and aftermarket applications.
SPAL has three main facilities: the parent company in Italy; the North American division, SPAL USA; and an Asian division, SPAL China.
Our headquarters is located in Correggio, Italy, and covers an area of more than 270,000-square feet and has over 450 employees. This facility houses the main engineering, research and development, and manufacturing teams. From creating the injection molds for plastic parts, such as fan blades, to winding motors, to testing our products to meet or exceed ISO9001 and TS16949 standards, we control all areas of manufacturing to ensure the highest quality and performance.
SPAL USA has been importing products from Italy since 1989, but was recently acquired by SPAL Italy. The North American division is housed in a 37,200-square foot building in Ankeny, Iowa. In addition to our bonded warehouse and distribution center, we have in-house engineering and research and development teams that provide our customers with specialty automotive electrical systems and components.
In order to support our customers in Mainland China and Southeast Asia, SPAL China was established in June 2001. Located in Shanghai's Wai Gao Qiao Free Trade Zone, SPAL China operates a 10,550-square foot bonded warehouse, trading, and distribution center.
